Appointed Person for Lifting Operations - LEEA Accredited
The aim of this 5 day course is to provide delegates with the knowledge to fully understand the roles and responsibilities of the appointed person. Following the successful completion of the course, the delegate will have the knowledge and understanding to implement safe systems of work for lifting operations and be able to write risk assessments & method statements.
Description
The course content is quite substantial and covers the following areas:
- Regulations
- Duties of Personnel involved in a Lifting Operation
- Lifting Accessories, Types, Pre-use, Safe use & selection
- Marking of SWL, Mode Factors & Sling Angle Calculations
- Types of Crane & Lifting Operations
- Mat Sizes & Ground Bearing Calculations
- Crane Duties Charts
- Scale Drawings
- Risk Assessment & Method Statement
Each course delegate will be expected to complete a theory and practical examination consisting of a live lifting scenario. If successful, a certificate will be issued. This will help the Employer to address certain legal requirements by being able to demonstrate employee competency. A detailed course handout is also provided for future reference.
Note: Where training provided is not specific to the type of lifting operations that the trainee will be undertaking, their employer should ensure supplementary training and competency assessment is undertaken.
Duration
The standard course is intended to last 5 day but for an experienced Appointed Person who holds a valid or recently expired certificate, a 3 day refresher can be attended. Bespoke courses can also be discussed.
LEEA Certified Course
The content of this course and the standard of instruction has been approved by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA). A certificate will be issued by LEEA on successful completion of the course.
Minimum Course Size & Pricing
The per delegate course price is based on a minimum of 3 participants and includes the price of crane hire for the practical assessment. Course sizes can be reduced but the per delegate price will increase accordingly. Please contact us for a quotation.
Prerequisites
The 5 day course assumes the candidate to already be qualified / experienced in the roles of either a Slinger / Banksmen or Crane Operator and Lift Supervisor.
What participants need to bring
Each participant is required to produce photographic ID on the first day of the course. Failure to do so will result in the participant being unable to attend.
- If this course is held at a Certex UK location, participants will require Safety Footwear.
- If the course is to be held on a Client’s site, additional PPE may also be required as specified by the Client’s site safety rules.
