The aim of this course is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the legislation and techniques used to thoroughly examine mobile cranes.

Inspection Tooling - Understand the different types of tooling required to conduct examinations and their proper use

Inspection and Testing Methods - Different inspection and testing techniques to form the Thorough Examination

Thorough Examination - Be able to conduct thorough examinations in accordance with the relevant regulations

Reporting - Compile Reports of Thorough Examination in accordance with LOLER

Defect Identification - Identifying defects and raising the appropriate reports

Crane Identification - Understand the different types of cranes

Achievement Measurement

Each course participant must complete and pass a theory examination, to demonstrate a good understanding of the course content.

Additionally, each course participant must demonstrate their ability to conduct a practical examination of a mobile crane and complete a report of Thorough Examination in accordance with LOLER.


Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to attend this course.


What You Need to Bring

Each participant is required to produce photographic ID on the first day of the course. Failure to do so will result in the participant being unable to attend.

Duration

The course runs for 24 hours over 4 days.


Course Capacity

The per delegate course price is based on a minimum of 3 participants and includes the price of crane hire for the practical assessment. Course sizes can be reduced but the per delegate price will increase accordingly. Please contact us for a quotation.

Does this Course Prove Competency

There is no set certification or approval body that can deem you competent. HSE provides guidance on what is meant by competency, stating that:

Competence can be described as the combination of training, skills, experience and knowledge that a person has and their ability to apply them to perform a task safely.”

They stipulate that a competent person must undertake the necessary training to help acquire and maintain satisfactory competency levels.

This course alone will not deem your employee competent but can be used in conjunction with experience, skills and knowledge to demonstrate overall theoretical and practical competence which can assist you as an Employer to address legal requirements, by contributing to your own assessment of your employee’s potential competency.
